"The podcast also does an excellent job balancing big-picture logistics with the intimate stories of the people on board...it takes the disaster out of the history books and away from the glossy movie adaptations and makes it sweaty, bloody, complex, horrifying, riveting — and real. "

James Marriot • The Times UK Apr 24, 2025

"The actor Paul McGann offers the kind of plush-voiced narration that wouldn’t be out of place in an ad for a Saga cruise — he has a particular way of lingering luxuriantly on the final consonants of words (“shippp”, “Titaniccc”) that is impossible properly to convey in print, but simply drips with money. To be fair, it’s not all upholstery and curtains. Titanic: Ship of Dreams weaves through some sentimental personal stories too. Still, there are plenty of people out there who can’t hear enough about the Titanic. If you are one of them, you are well served here."

Fiona Sturges • Financial Times Apr 21, 2025

"...narrated by the actor Paul McGann, of Withnail and I fame, and fashionably delivered in the past-present. With his stern tone and exaggerated diction, McGann overdoes the portent, much of the time sounding as if he’s reading from the Book of Revelation. Smart sound design brings to life the industrious sounds of the shipyard, with horns parping in the distance. One difficulty here is the absence of suspense."
