"...it offers intelligent analysis and a newsy nimbleness...Some minor quibbles about sound quality aside, it’s great: confident, cohesive, illuminating, incisive, often humorous. Sort out the changing-room audio and this high-scoring show might remain at the top of the league all season. As a podcast presenter and producer, Lineker is irrefutably at the top of his game."

"What you actually get is a stale standard of analysis that barely hovers above that offered by the drunkest bar-propper in your local pub. Lineker, genial and almost self-aware. Shearer, bottomlessly dull. Richards, dopey and guffawing."

"I should say that I am clueless about football and therefore not this series’ target audience. But I do listen to a lot of podcasts and this one has some work to do. There is the fact that it has three hosts, which is one too many when it comes to free-range conversations...But the biggest problem is the sound quality, which is echoey and uneven, and at times sounds as if they are broadcasting from deep inside a cave. So would it kill them to invest in some proper sound gear?"

"A football pundit podcast might not be groundbreaking, but this one has some of the best voices going...Oh, and a fair bit on the actual game."

"The three men have a good rapport. Shearer is wryly likeable. Using three hosts rather than the traditional Goalhanger format of just two blokes chatting makes things feel a bit crowded...with three hosts, conversations don’t flow and develop the same way. Unstructured podcasts like this take a while to find their rhythm. Still, it’s expertly done. If anyone knows how to make a show like this it’s Gary Lineker, footballer-turned-podcasting-magnate."
