When both his popular culture podcast and long-term relationship come to an end, journalist Brendan finds he has the time — and freedom — to pursue his dream: a travel podcast where he goes places and learns about them by getting invited to a stranger’s house for dinner. A friend joins him at each destination and they drink, dance, and eat their way from Montréal to Mexico City, often learning as much about themselves as the place they’re visiting. Not Lost is both a delightful travel escape and an insightful look at people — locals and visitors alike — trying to make sense of...

"Not Lost employs an effective mix of auteur direction, snappy writing, and spontaneous comedy — and that’s before you get to the heart of the show: food."

"It feels very man-on-the-street, as each episode introduces you to the sounds and people of a city in a totally new way. While Brendan learns about the places he visits, he also reflects on how he’s changing as a traveler, making this a personal journey that feels at once like a game show and cultural snapshot."

"Every episode invites you to be a fly on the wall...That means you come away with a pretty unique perspective...At its core Not Lost does well to capture that thing we all convince ourselves we'll do once we find ourselves in a new, unfamiliar part of the world – explore!"

"We learn as much about the hosts as we do the places they visit. There’s an aimlessness to the series that should, in theory, derail it. In fact, it is unexpectedly engaging, aided by clever production where the style is deliberately scrappy, but not so much that it’s an affront to the ears..Not Lost perfectly recreates that feeling of arriving in a strange place and making peace with being an outsider."

"A brisk listen, the podcast picks up as we find Newnam in a state of emotional recovery, processing both the end of a long-term relationship and the long-running podcast he used to co-host, APM’s Dinner Party Download. What ensues is a charming show that does a really great job bottling the feeling of drifting through a place that isn’t your home and buoyed by the vague feeling of possibility. The end result is a flighty labor of love and a helluva fun time."
