Each episode of this documentary series begins with a medical mystery. Sometimes the sickness is in the body, and sometimes the sickness is in the system. Once you peel back the layers, more questions emerge. Created by Allison Behringer and supported by KCRW.

"Allison Behringer’s thought-provoking and long-running podcast is back...First up is an exploration of the importance of touch, with a moving contribution from a woman who gives burn survivors massage therapy and another who prefers a firm touch to light."

"It is a brave beginning, both smart and vulnerable. And it goes beyond merely setting the foundations for the podcast’s premise, becoming something raw and cathartic. To describe Bodies as a “medical mystery” show does it a disservice. At worst, it positions the podcast in the wrong genre. Behringer fosters connection beyond pity. She does this through her narration, which remains a reflective anchor throughout the show, but also with the questions she asks her subjects. Bodies always reports from a place of empathy."

"The resulting programme is both personal and – no surprise to us older women – also political...I found very moving, some of it made me queasy, and some of the medical detail was a revelation to me...both medically interesting and a compelling piece of storytelling."
