"After dozens of episodes of This Cultural Life, in which Wilson has interviewed creative figures including Ian McEwan, Margaret Atwood, Whoopi Goldberg, Paul McCartney, Tracey Emin and plenty more, it’s turning into a comprehensive and valuable national archive of fascinating people discussing their integration with culture. But if the questions were pricklier, less cosy, the interviewees would have so much more to latch onto, and we might see more heart from them, more blood...listening to This Cultural Life sometimes gives me a similar amount of joy as remembering to take an antibiotic, when it should feel more like looking forward to an exquisite dinner."
