"The Labour MP Jess Phillips possesses this kind of charisma and employs it to great effect on her new podcast...The conceit — which doesn’t feel superfluous — is that Phillips’s guests must write letters to three people: to “someone they love, someone who’s no longer around and someone who doesn’t realise how significant a role they’ve played in their lives”. In the wrong hands this would be powerfully cheesy, fake or boring — when asked to be sincere, many people revert to jokes or nervous platitudes. But not if Phillips is interviewing them."
