"Brittani Ard is a skilled storyteller willing to bring to light some of her darkest moments...You already know how this goes, but there’s something gripping about waiting to see where the cracks will appear. From a narrative standpoint, it’s quite a segue: Ard, presumably, is trying to figure out why she fell for this malarkey, and looks for answers in her own past. It’s a particularly selective dive into her personal history – there’s only so much you can fit into a half-hour episode, I get it, but there were notable ellipses around her past relationships and her children that left me with more questions than answers."

"Ard's powerful storytelling weaves a tapestry of resilience, empowerment, and the unwavering strength of the human spirit; including stories about her childhood spent protecting her younger sister from their mother's addiction, her experience becoming a mother at a young age, and the heartbreaking loss of her sister. Drama builds slowly, and Ard's narrative skills are self-evident as she leads listeners to the climactic ending of the first episode."
