The Rest Is Classified

Critic Rating
The Rest Is Classified takes you into the mysterious world of spies and espionage. Hosted by former CIA analyst now turned spy novelist, David McCloskey, and veteran security correspondent, Gordon Corera, they’ve experienced this field first-hand. It’s a world of shadows, shrouded in secrecy, but it affects every one of us. It’s time to bring it into the light.

"It’s like knowing the secret handshake that reveals covert missions and top-secret briefings for some global intelligence operation. Each episode brims with anecdotes and stories only people in-the-know could provide."

"It would be fair to call The Rest is Classified the British version of Blow Back...Does The Rest is Classified have real potential? Yes. But Goalhanger may need to add something special to stand out in a strong genre. "

"This feels an assured pairing, which should find a cross-Atlantic audience among those who cannot get enough of derring-do — but I cannot quite envisage it aping the success of its stablemate The Rest Is … History, the bro show it most closely emulates."

"Along with their obvious credentials, the pair have an easy chemistry, bouncing off one another’s anecdotes and allowing space for gentle disagreement, or at least differing interpretations of the facts. The atmosphere is learned yet convivial and conversational. and is very much of a piece with The Rest Is History... I have one complaint about Goalhanger, and that is its overwhelming maleness..What was once an industry celebrated for its accessibility and range of voices is now increasingly dominated by the pale, stale and male."

"The Rest Is Classified has more in common with The Rest Is History, Goalhanger’s most popular podcast...I felt no personal sympathy for any of the characters, no matter how eccentric or persuasive or well connected. The Rest Is Classified will do well – it’s a good show – but I am not its audience."
