"[The Pod Directive] has refreshingly side-stepped the more in-the-weeds aspects of Trek fandom, and instead created a chatty podcast where the definitions of a casual fan and hardcore fan are quietly, and expertly, blurred. It’s just really interesting people talking about Star Trek and what it means to them. But, the best part is — unlike so many documentaries and televised interviews — all the big stuff is a given."

"I always though Star Trek was pretty nerdy, but after listening to this podcast episode, I've seen multiple episodes from the first season of Star Trek and am thoroughly impressed. I can understand why Ben Stiller was fascinated by the drama and psychology of the first season, there is something truly special that he hinted at. It was also cool to hear how Ben Still named his production company after an obscure Star Trek reference. The deeply connected references to this fictional universe are strong. The hosts in this episode were a bit slow, but it's the first episode of the series, I assume they pick up their chemistry as time goes on. Even for not watching one episode at the time of listening this podcast, it was enjoyable and spurred me to check out the first season of the TV show."
