Miranda Sawyer • The Guardian Sep 2, 2023

"(Episode: Finn and the Bell) It’s an exceptional listen: a glittering jewel of a story, absolutely heartbreaking and completely uplifting all at once. It’s one of the most moving things I’ve ever heard. How Heilman was able to coax Reese to speak in such an intimate manner I have no idea...give half an hour of your time to this beautiful, humane work."

Sarah Larson • New Yorker Dec 21, 2022

"...revealing, through an almost miraculous level of attention, what life anywhere is all about. Heilman has a keen eye and a good sense of humor, but her narrative tone is quietly serious, always focussed on her subject; the episodes create a feeling of deep, barely interrupted listening. Without sentimentalizing Vermont or her fellow-citizens, Heilman captures both who we are and the best of what we try to be."

"(Episode: Finn and the Bell) “Finn and the Bell” is one of those episodes that you cannot listen to without being utterly convinced of the magic of audio storytelling. The absence of any synthetic sound effects or heavy scoring makes room for the musicality of the human voice to take centre stage. The result is a sonic memorial of sorts — a homage to the experiences of loss and the ways in which people live on after they’re gone."
