Hello From the Magic Tavern
4.9/5
Critic Rating
Arnie Niekamp fell through a dimensional portal behind a Burger King into the fantastical land of Foon. He's still getting a slight wifi signal, so he uploads a weekly podcast from the tavern the Vermilion Minotaur where he interviews wizards, monsters and adventurers. It's a major discovery!

"This podcast combines humor with a fantastical story about getting sucked through a dimensional portal at a Burger King and ending up in a strange land that has both Wi-Fi and wizards."

"Thoroughly absurd...The role-playing game and fantasy references come thick and fast, guests play bizarre characters of their own creation, and loyal listeners are rewarded with silly long-running gags and rich lore. …"

"One of the more stoned audio drama podcast concepts out there is Hello From the Magic Tavern. A hilarious podcast with a lot of characters and stories. It’s got major dungeons and dragons vibes and puts me back in the headspace to get buck wild in a fantasy realm. Weed doesn’t have a major presence on the show, so this falls into the category of podcasts that are fun to listen to while high but not directly about weed."

"At the heart of it, "Hello From the Magic Tavern" is truly a listener's podcast because the listener has so much ability to interact with the show. Arnie, Adal and Matt are funny and they're genuine, and the world story they've created is an entertaining one to follow. That combination resonates with audiences."

"So whether you’re just a fan of D&D shows, you’re a DM yourself, or you just love Dungeons & Dragons, Hello From the Magic Tavern is the perfect podcast for you. Part of what makes watching Critical Role so fun is the natural chemistry between the members of Vox Machina. They’re all friends, and that makes watching their adventures fun. The same is true for the cast of Magic Tavern. Niekamp, Rifai, and Young are all friends who did improv together for years before Magic Tavern even was a glimmer in Niekamp’s eye. Chunt, Arnie, and Usidore are hilarious, but what makes the show really pop are the weekly guests who help both Arnie and his earth listeners understand Foon."
