Critic Rating

Chain of Being is a mythic science fiction podcast which is a glimpse into the future: where gods control the cosmos and mortals are left to fend for themselves in a vast, indifferent universe. Follow the immortal Adam (of eden fame) as he hunts down an extra-universal threat whilst also confronting his past. Set in an extensive universe that blends religious fantasy elements with space opera science fiction. All lovingly written and sound designed by a student from south london since they were 17 years old, and featuring a range of voice acting talent. https://www.patreon.com/faustiannonsense

"I can best describe Chain of Being as what would happen if China Miéville decided to make an audio drama. The key word here is weird, as in Weird Fiction. We’ve got an advanced futuristic setting, but we also have mythological gods and magic existing side-by-side with science and technology. You do get some hints of familiarity here and there. There’s certainly plenty of biblical allusions, and nods to various mythologies. However, they’re often presented in an unusual context. I should also note that Cai Gwilym Pritchard created Chain of Being at the tender age of seventeen. Quite the accomplishment that was indeed."

"Religious but less in the “100 Inspirational Bible Quotes” way and more in the “I was a sci-fi kid who went to Sunday school” way, this podcast has a really cool take on the relationship between gods and humans. The story is fascinating, the action is gripping, and the lore is so well done, that you’ll be left wanting more. The characters are also well written, and the sound design is so good, that you want to listen to this podcast in an empty movie theater just for the surround sound. "
