Sweet Bobby: A Catfishing Story Pod to TV Recap
When you read, watch, or listen to a piece of content for a while and then always recommend it, you anticipate anything new that comes out. Well, that's me with Sweet Bobby. This post isn't really about an in-depth summary of it.
You should watch the documentary because it's only one episode and 90 minutes long on Netflix. You should also definitely listen to the six-part podcast.
Having the podcast come to life on the screen, was something special, because I felt frustrated and smacked my head several times just like the podcast did to me.
About Sweet Bobby in my own words. Kirat a South Asian radio presenter and marketing professional in Britain is catfished for 10 flipping years by (fake) Bobby. Spoiler Alert: it's her cousin, Simran. There are a lot of How's and Why's.
One major difference was the closure of the Netflix Doc vs. the podcast. Since the podcast had a little more time, we got to hear more discussion of the public apology that Simran had to present and how she lost her job. However, in this documentary, we get to see the real Bobby, and dang, what a nice guy.
One last note: My friends and I made a special episode about Sweet Bobby in our South Asian podcast, Chai After Dark. We were in discussion with Netflix PR to have Kirat on the podcast, but they ended up ghosting on us! In any case, have a listen here!
